Safeness in an Uncertain World
I am a clinical psychologist, researcher and speaker based in Denmark, working with individuals, communities and organisations navigating uncertainty, change and transformation.
At the centre of my work is a question that crosses disciplines and contexts: what helps people remain connected, engaged and able to move forward when life becomes uncertain?
I explore this question through research on the Danish concept of tryghed (safeness), and through talks, workshops and collaborative projects that bring these ideas into communities and organisations.
Below are three projects I am currently working on.
Current Projects
Identities in Motion
How do communities move from crisis towards hope when the world around them, and their sense of who they are, is changing?
Together with Dr. Judith Manassen Ramon, a media psychologist, expert on storytelling and a group faciliator, we have developed workshops for leaders of Jewish communities across the world.
Through personal reflection, shared storytelling and dialogue, leaders explore how their own experiences and those of their communities have changed in the past years, what matters now, and what kind of future they want to help shape.

Tryghed: Rethinking Safeness
What if feeling safe is not the same as being safe?
My work on tryghed explores a distinctly Danish understanding of safeness — not as the absence of risk, but as the conditions that allow us to lower our guard, connect with others and engage with the world. Through research, writing and talks, I explore what tryghed can teach us about how people, communities and organisations live with uncertainty.
I give talks and collaborate on projects that bring these ideas into new contexts.

Beyond Psychological Safety
What if psychological safety captures only part of what people need in order to thrive at work?
I am developing a research project exploring tryghed (safeness) in organisations. The project asks whether the unique Danish concept of tryghed can offer a broader understanding of the conditions that enable people to stay engaged, navigate uncertainty and change, and thrive at work.
I welcome conversations with research partners, organisations and potential funders.

What shapes the questions I ask
I am a clinical psychologist shaped by Israeli, American and Danish cultures.
Hebrew and English have both been part of my life from an early age, while Denmark has been my professional home for most of my adult life. Moving between these different cultural worlds has profoundly shaped the questions I ask and the way I approach people, communities and organisations.
My perspective is also grounded in more than two decades of clinical work, research, teaching and supervision in Danish Mental Health Services.
Increasingly, my work takes me beyond the clinical setting: I am interested in what happens to people, relationships and communities when familiar assumptions are disrupted, and in the conditions that allow us not simply to cope, but to remain open, connected and capable of actively shaping what comes next.
I work across research, public speaking and community-based projects, often together with people from other disciplines and fields of practice.
I am looking for people and organisations who want to explore these questions with me. If you are developing a research project, working with a community or organisation facing significant change, interested in supporting one of the projects above, or would like to bring these ideas into your own context through a talk or workshop, I would very much like to hear from you.
Let’s start a conversation.
